Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on July 24 that seizing a country's assets to pay for possible future claims unrelated to those assets would set a dangerous precedent and increase tensions, according to Jiemian News. Araghchi said supporters or beneficiaries of such actions should realize that if countries normalize confiscating foreign property, no assets will be safe and none will be immune. He warned the resulting chaos and instability would be “neither welcome nor peaceful.”
