According to CNBC, Congress split on Thursday over a pair of War Powers Act resolutions aimed at forcing President Donald Trump to end the war with Iran, while Brent crude rose above $100 a barrel and U.S. crude topped $91. The Senate voted 47-49 to kill a joint resolution that would have compelled Trump to halt hostilities, after the House earlier passed a concurrent resolution 214-208 that would express congressional disapproval but would not go to the president for approval. The conflict has intensified after Trump informed Congress that he restarted the war following the breakdown of peace talks, and the escalation has pushed average U.S. gas prices to $4.09 a gallon, according to AAA.
