Several Israeli cities, including Ramat Gan, Herzliya, Eilat and Karmiel, opened public shelters on July 23 as tensions between the United States and Iran escalated, raising fears of possible Iranian missile attacks, according to Jiemian News. Ramat Gan city authorities said their security assessment showed the risk of an Iranian missile strike on Israel had risen over the weekend. Eilat’s municipal government said staff were inspecting the shelters that had been opened and urged residents to follow safety instructions.
