LG Energy Solution filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Chinese lithium-ion battery maker EVE Energy in the United States on July 22 and separately asked the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) for an import exclusion order, according to Jiemian News reported, citing Yonhap. The case involves five patents: four related to cylindrical batteries, including tabless technology that uses the electrode plate itself as the electron path to deliver higher output, and one related to battery separators. LG Energy Solution said the allegedly infringing batteries made by EVE Energy are already widely used in the U.S. power tools market. EVE Energy said it has not yet received formal legal documents in the case and, after an internal review, has not found any infringement of the patents in question.
