SEC Approves Nasdaq Rule to Suspend Stocks Below $5 Million Market Value

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved a Nasdaq rule that will immediately suspend trading and begin delisting proceedings if a companys listed securities fall below $5 million in market value for 30 consecutive trading days. During the hearing and appeals process, shares will usually only be able to trade on the OTC market, according to 36Kr. Nasdaq said the move is intended to reduce the risk of manipulation and pump-and-dump schemes in microcap stocks.
