South Korea is advancing a plan that could lift a nine-year ban on financial companies holding equity in crypto enterprises this year. According to NS3.AI, Financial Services Commission official Kim Sung-jin said stablecoin legislation and institutional investor entry are moving forward together.

The authorities are also studying institutional brokerages and over-the-counter trading mechanisms for the virtual asset market. The measures are part of a broader effort to expand institutional participation and develop market infrastructure.
