Bae Kyung-hoon Seeks U.S. Big Tech Investment In South Korea

According to Yonhap, South Korea's science minister Bae Kyung-hoon said he wants to encourage investment in local companies by U.S. big tech firms ahead of his planned trip to Silicon Valley later Thursday. After meeting with chief executive officers of South Korea's telecom operators in central Seoul, Bae said the goal is to strengthen cooperation so major tech companies can invest in South Korea. He said talks will focus on artificial intelligence cooperation and market expansion, AI data centers and semiconductors, and added that he plans to promote South Korea's AI ecosystem during the trip. Bae is set to leave for San Francisco in the evening and meet officials from Broadcom, OpenAI, Anthropic and Nvidia.
