Wanchain's cross-chain bridge was hit by an exploit on Monday, and 290 million NIGHT tokens were transferred out. According to Odaily, the price of NIGHT fell as much as 43% to a record low before partially recovering nearly 19% over the next 24 hours.
Charles Hoskinson said the issue came from an older cross-chain bridge architecture built by a third party. He also said AI-driven vulnerability discovery is accelerating the exposure of flaws in all software, not just in crypto. Hoskinson said zero-knowledge systems such as Midnight are a long-term solution because they can replace trust in bridge operators and multisig mechanisms with cryptographic proofs.
