Binance Blog published a new article, revealing how India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) took enforcement action against “Team Kalki,” a darknet-linked narcotics distribution network that investigators said had been active since January 2025. The article explains that the operation involved support from the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and Binance’s Investigations team, which assisted with blockchain intelligence, wallet-tracing support, and responses to law enforcement requests tied to digital-asset flows. According to the published details, the case shows how blockchain data and public-private cooperation can help investigators trace funds and disrupt criminal activity. The network allegedly used encrypted communication, hidden online forums, international suppliers, and covert “dead drops” to move narcotics across India while trying to avoid detection. Authorities said the investigation led to action against the group and the freezing of cryptocurrency assets connected to its activity, underscoring the role of blockchain analytics in supporting enforcement efforts involving digital assets and illicit transactions.

The article also describes how blockchain transparency can help law enforcement follow financial activity that may be difficult to detect in conventional systems. Unlike opaque financial networks, blockchain provides a public and immutable ledger that can be reviewed to trace the movement of funds. In this case, DSCI and Binance reportedly provided blockchain analytics and wallet tracking that helped authorities identify and freeze cryptocurrency assets linked to Team Kalki, while transaction monitoring also helped cut off the group’s financial channels. Authorities seized thousands of narcotics, including LSD blotters and MDMA pills, through domestic and international parcels connected to the network. S.B. Seker, Head of APAC, Binance, said digital assets’ transparent blockchain infrastructure makes illicit activity more visible and gives authorities a meaningful advantage in tracing and addressing wrongdoing. He added that security remains central to Binance’s mission and that operations against groups like Team Kalki show how blockchain transparency and enforcement can work together to disrupt illicit activity. The article concludes that the dismantling of Team Kalki highlights the value of collaboration among law enforcement, industry bodies, and exchanges in building a safer and more transparent crypto ecosystem.
