Charles Schwab Hong Kong senior vice president and financial consultant Kwok Ming-shan said at its 2026 U.S. market midyear outlook event that U.S. inflation remains sticky as the second half begins and the Federal Reserve appears likely to stay patient, according to Ming Pao.
Kwok said energy prices and AI-driven capital spending are adding pressure to already elevated core services inflation, while the conflict in Iran is also pushing up energy prices. He said the overall outlook remains positive, but higher inflation, geopolitical tensions and policy uncertainty could lead to more frequent market volatility.
