According to Yonhap, South Korea's Korea Exchange (KRX) activated a buy-side sidecar for the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) on Wednesday as the index climbed sharply on tech gains. Program trading for KOSPI-listed shares was halted for five minutes at 9:06 a.m. soon after the market opened, and the KOSPI, which opened more than 5% higher, was up 6.01% at 7,153.42 points as of 9:11 a.m. The exchange said a buy-side sidecar is triggered when the KOSPI 200 Futures index rises 5% or more for at least one minute.
