According to CNBC, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the ongoing cyclospora outbreak is under control after officials identified the source and companies involved carried out a recall. He also said criticism of the federal response was invalid, and noted that surveillance program cuts were not made, though the FoodNet program was reduced because of redundant surveillance. The Food and Drug Administration said the outbreak is linked to iceberg lettuce, some of which was served by Yum Brands' Taco Bell, while Taylor Farms has recalled the produce and Taco Bell has removed it from its restaurants. The CDC said more than 1,644 cases have been reported since illnesses first appeared on May 13, including 94 hospitalizations and no deaths.
