According to CNBC, Goldman Sachs has created a new alternative investments platform to expand offerings for wealthy clients and family offices that want direct stakes in fast-growing private companies. The platform combines Goldman’s existing alternatives business with two new teams focused on direct investments in individual private companies and on helping clients buy and sell those stakes.
Kristin Olson, Goldman Sachs' global head of alternatives for wealth, said the firm has long arranged direct investments in later-stage private companies and is seeing stronger demand for the asset class. She said Goldman is targeting later-stage companies with established products, meaningful revenue and clearer paths to profitability, and is also steering clients toward AI infrastructure investments such as data centers and related projects. The move comes days after Goldman reported record quarterly revenue.
