TSMC plans to raise foundry prices for advanced and mature-process chips in 2027 by as much as 10% to offset higher costs for materials, manufacturing equipment, and overseas fab construction, according to Nikkei Asia, which cited multiple people familiar with the matter. According to ChainCatcher, the company has already discussed the price increases with customers, covering 7-nanometer and more advanced nodes.

The people said the base increase will range from 5% to 10%, depending on the customer and product. For new high-performance computing chip orders above customers' original forecasts, TSMC plans to charge an additional premium of 10% to 15% on top of the base increase, which could push some advanced-node orders above a 10% total increase.

For mature-process chips, including 12-nanometer, 16-nanometer, 28-nanometer and other legacy nodes, TSMC plans to raise prices by up to 10%, though some products will see smaller increases. Mature-process business accounted for about 23% of revenue in the previous quarter, while advanced-node business contributed about 77% of revenue in the April-to-June quarter.

The sources said talks began around June and were finalized in July, with the new prices set to take effect in early 2027.
