Zakura, a new Zcash full node client jointly developed by Project Tachyon and Valar Group, has been released. According to Odaily, the free open-source client is built on Zebra, which was developed by the Zcash Foundation, and already supports the Ironwood (NU6.3) network upgrade, expected to activate around July 28.

The team plans to use Zakura to gradually bring future Zcash protocol upgrades, including quantum recoverability, recursive proofs, and private information retrieval, to the live network. Benchmark tests showed that Zakura takes about 4 hours and 20 minutes to synchronize the Zcash mainnet, compared with about 20 hours and 46 minutes for Zebra.
