Police received a report at about 9 p.m. from a female manager at a securities firm in World-Wide House, 19 Des Voeux Road Central, who said a male colleague had used the company account to invest without authorization and lost HK$150 million, according to Ming Pao.
The case prompted online speculation that several brokers based in World-Wide House may have been involved. Sun Hung Kai & Co, whose head office is on the 9th floor of World-Wide House, later clarified that it is not the securities firm involved.
