South Korea's second-quarter economic growth is expected to slow but remain resilient, supported by strong chip exports driven by the AI boom. According to Jin10, a Wall Street Journal survey of 15 economists showed the median forecast for GDP to rise 0.4% quarter on quarter, down from a revised 1.8% in the first quarter.

The survey also showed GDP growth was expected to remain solid on a year-on-year basis at 3.4%, compared with 3.8% in the first quarter. Moody's Analytics said in a report that exports will again take the lead as the AI-driven semiconductor boom continues, and Citigroup raised its growth forecasts for the second quarter and 2026 on strong chip exports. The second-quarter GDP data will be released on Thursday.
