Kenya is investigating a cyberattack on President William Ruto’s official website after attackers briefly disabled the site and altered its homepage while demanding a ransom of 5 Bitcoin. According to ChainCatcher, Information, Communications and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo said the Kenya ICT Authority activated its cybersecurity response protocol and temporarily restricted public access to the portal to contain the incident and support forensic investigations. He added that there is currently no evidence of unauthorized access to sensitive data, data leaks, or information loss, and said government systems and digital services remain secure and operational.
