According to Jin10, LBBW senior fixed income analyst Elmar Voelker said in a report that foreign investors from the private sector have clearly returned to their long-standing role as steady net buyers of U.S. Treasuries. He said the increase in global uncertainty in financial markets after the outbreak of the Iran war has, at least for now, reactivated the role of U.S. Treasuries as a safe-haven asset, and that this finding is consistent with the sharp appreciation of the dollar against other major currencies since the end of February 2026.
