Trader Ansem asked data providers, including Blockworks, whether anyone had counted how many liquid funds exist in the crypto sector and how much assets under management they hold. According to Odaily, Blockworks co-founder Jason Yanowitz replied that he estimates there are about 800 such funds worldwide.
Yanowitz said his list includes 470 funds, compared with 1,500 at the start of 2022, but he believes another 40% to 50% of funds may not disclose information. He said about 250 funds are currently active, although most manage relatively small amounts, such as small funds run by two founders with about $10 million in assets under management. He added that most AUM is concentrated in a small number of funds.
