Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chief Executive Stephanie Pope said on July 19 that the company’s current focus is on increasing and improving aircraft production, rather than announcing new orders during the Farnborough Airshow. According to Jin10, Pope said Boeing has a strong order backlog and that market demand is not the current problem.
Pope said Boeing will focus on listening to customer and supplier needs and advancing product improvements. She said raising production of the 737 and 787 series is crucial to restoring Boeing’s financial position. Boeing is assessing further increases in 737 MAX production, and after regulatory approval, 737 MAX output has risen to 47 aircraft per month. The company plans to first achieve stable production, then target 52 aircraft per month, and will decide the pace of further increases based on safety assessments.
