According to Axios, two U.S. service members were killed and several others were wounded when at least two Iranian ballistic missiles struck Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on Saturday. CENTCOM said one service member was missing and four were evacuated to hospitals for treatment, while the U.S. military later carried out another round of strikes against Iranian targets around 6 p.m. ET. CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that attacked American service members in Jordan. Axios also reported that two U.S. officials said there had been four Iranian missile attacks on U.S. forces at bases in Jordan over the past week, leaving dozens wounded and several helicopters destroyed.
