According to Yonhap, firefighters were still battling a large fire at a Coupang warehouse in Incheon on Monday, more than 47 hours after the blaze broke out early Saturday, with residents evacuated amid concerns the building could collapse. The fire remained uncontained as of 6:00 a.m., and the Incheon firefighting headquarters said the complex structure and large amounts of flammable material inside the logistics center west of Seoul were slowing efforts to extinguish it.
Authorities deployed 813 firefighters and 231 pieces of equipment under a national mobilization order issued Saturday. Hundreds of residents were sheltering at nearby schools after local officials ordered evacuations late Sunday for areas within 116 meters of the warehouse's ramp zone, while daycare centers and elementary schools in the area were told to close for the day. A fire authority said rain at the site was expected to do little to help because water could barely reach the building's interior.
