Ian Wright criticised the World Cup final pitch after a goalless first half between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, saying on ITV that it was “ridiculous,” “poor” and “terrible,” and adding that it was “bobbly and dry,” according to Yahoo Sports. The natural grass surface, laid over the artificial pitch, has been criticised throughout the World Cup for appearing dry and patchy. The first half was largely dominated by Spain, while defending champions Argentina failed to register a shot on target.
