Ukraine Says Russia Launched One Of War's Largest Ballistic Missile Barrages On Kyiv

According to Lianhe Zaobao citing Reuters, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv since the war began, killing one person and injuring 16. Ukraine's air force said on Sunday, July 19, that air defenses shot down 18 of 41 missiles and 108 of 125 drones, while 23 missiles and 10 drones hit 20 locations. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said residential buildings, warehouses, supermarkets and dormitories were damaged, with three people seriously hurt. Ukraine's acting foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha, condemned the strike as a “brutal terror attack” and called for greater international pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian forces struck three fuel depots and a fuel facility in Russia's Stavropol region and hit three Russian “shadow fleet” oil tankers in the Black Sea. Separately, Russian officials said an air attack on a logistics center in Moscow region on Saturday, July 18, injured 40 people, while earlier strikes in Tambov region killed at least seven.
