Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan said in a column that artificial intelligence is being applied across different areas, including embodied intelligence moving from chat-based interaction into the physical world. According to Odaily, Hong Kong’s AI+ and Industry Development Strategy Committee has discussed research and development innovation, data flow and security, computing infrastructure, application scenarios, talent development, and funding investment.
Chan said Hong Kong’s AI planning has moved from advancing individual items to a systematic layout. He added that Hong Kong could provide about 180,000 PFLOPS of computing power by 2032, equal to 36 times its current total computing capacity. Hong Kong Investment Management Company also directed 56% of its investment in projects last year to hard technology, including AI, and supported the development of the RISC-V open-source architecture ecosystem.
