ZODL founder Josh Swihart posted a message marking the planned end of maintenance for zcashd, Zcash's original official node software, at block height 3,417,100.

According to PANews, Swihart said the Zcash network continues to run without interruption on Zebra and Zakura, which are modern Rust node implementations, and that the Zallet wallet has replaced the zcashd wallet. He added that while blocks continue to be produced, the original software that powered Zcash has officially retired after 10 years of continuous operation.

zcashd was originally a fork of Bitcoin Core v0.11.2, and the Zcash network launched on October 28, 2016.
