Trezor Chief Commercial Officer Danny Sanders pushed back against recent criticism of crypto hardware wallets from blockchain investigator ZachXBT, according to The Block. According to ChainCatcher, Sanders said hardware wallet firmware and software updates can sometimes disrupt urgent or large transactions and that the user experience can feel clunky, but he rejected the claim that all hardware wallets are worthless.
ZachXBT wrote on Telegram earlier this week that all hardware wallets are “utter garbage” and should not be used for important tasks such as signing transactions or storing funds. He also suggested using a dedicated iPhone to store assets and sign transactions.
Sanders said hardware wallets may not be the best single solution for advanced users managing very large sums, but argued they remain the best self-custody option for ordinary crypto users. He also said iPhone operating systems and connectivity features create more attack risk than hardware wallets.
