Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, said on July 17 that the United States violated the terms of the U.S.-Iran memorandum and that the agreement is now effectively dead. According to Jin10, he also said the U.S. military is carrying out large-scale attacks on infrastructure in southern Iran through a hybrid-war approach.
Rezaei said Iran has expanded the scope of the war after renewed U.S. strikes, based on earlier warnings. He added that if the United States continues attacking in the coming days, Iranian armed forces will move beyond the current stage of deterrence and retaliation into a stage of full-scale offense and destruction.
He said bases and soldiers outside U.S. territory will then become direct targets. Rezaei also said the United States should know that its attrition strategy of fighting while negotiating has reached an impasse, and that Iran's attacks will become more intense in the coming days.
