China's Foreign Investment Net Inflows Rose About $160 Billion in First Five Months, Official Says

On July 17, Zhao Yuchao, head of the balance-of-payments department at China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange, said at a State Council Information Office briefing that net foreign investment into China rose by about $160 billion in the first five months of the year, well above the same period last year, according to 36Kr. The figure includes direct investment, portfolio investment, and deposits and loans absorbed from abroad. Zhao said net foreign equity investment in China totaled more than $50 billion in the period, with newly added registered capital holding steady.
