Meituan Says It Will Shift Delivery Rider Policy Toward Safety, Income And Rights

Meituan Core Local Commerce CEO Wang Puzhong said on July 16 that professionalization is a key sign of maturity for the delivery rider industry and that the company will work under guidance from relevant authorities to shift from an efficiency-first approach to one that balances safety, income and rights. According to 36Kr, Meituan also said its pilot program for the traffic-signal waiting meter has completed data integration with Suzhou traffic authorities, and it announced an upgraded medical protection plan that will provide riders with additional special coverage during winter and summer deliveries.
