Fetterman Says He'd Leave Democrats If Party Turns 'Anti-Israel'

According to Axios, Sen. John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, said he would leave the Democratic Party if it became the "anti-Israel party," while saying he has no immediate plans to leave the caucus. He made the comments Wednesday at The Hill Nation Summit, saying that if Democrats win four Senate seats in November and he becomes the 51st Democrat, "watch what I do," and adding that he would remain "the committed Democrat" in that scenario. Axios reported that his remarks came as Democrats have grown more critical of Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, including Wednesday's failed House vote to block State Department funding for the country, which drew support from more than 100 House Democrats and Minority Whip Katherine Clark. Fetterman also said he is "never changing" his party except for that one condition.
