A U.S. Department of Defense internal assessment said the actual cost of U.S. military action against Iran could reach $100 billion, far above the roughly $30 billion previously disclosed by the U.S. government. According to Jin10, the gap was said to stem mainly from previously unreported combat expenses, losses of advanced fighter jets, and the heavy damage inflicted on U.S. military facilities in the Middle East.
U.S. Senator Angus King said the American public was very disappointed that it could not know the true cost of the war, not to mention the additional costs borne by consumers, including higher gasoline prices.
