X402 Foundation Taps Open Standard For AI Agent Payments

The newly convened x402 Foundation is building an open standard for AI agent commerce, with members aiming to let AI programs and users pay over HTTP without subscriptions or manual card entry. According to CoinDesk, the Linux-affiliated group says the protocol can support micropayments and broader internet transacting, and has named AWS Payments senior manager Alin Dragos as board chairperson while it searches for an executive director.
