Deutsche Bank analyst Sanjay Raja said in a report that U.K. Prime Minister Starmer will hand his successor Burnham a markedly improved British economy. According to Jin10, data showed U.K. gross domestic product rose 0.1% month on month in May and increased 0.7% in the three months through May.

Raja said that, based on second-quarter growth, the U.K. is likely to remain near the top of the Group of Seven, or at least stay ahead of peers. He added that growth momentum may slow as the energy shock triggered by the Iran war and geopolitical uncertainty continue to weigh on the economy.

Raja also said U.K. July GDP may receive a brief boost because pub opening hours were extended, even though England lost in the World Cup on Wednesday.
