The Graph Foundation has completed Project Sunrise, marking the transition of The Graph, a blockchain data indexing and query protocol, to a fully decentralized data layer.
It is reported that Sunrise has completed a three-phase decentralization plan in which subgraphs are upgraded from a centralized escrow service to The Graph's globally distributed network, which consists of individuals motivated by tokens and independent companies that act as data indexers. The Graph introduced subgraph technology to index Ethereum in 2018, but has now indexed over 55 chains, including Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, NEAR, and Cosmos.
