Toyota Subsidiary Recalls More Than 11,000 Single-Seat Mini EVs in Japan

Toyota's subsidiary Toyota Auto Body filed a recall notice with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on July 15 over a defect in the parking brake of its single-seat mini battery electric vehicle, the COMS. According to Jin10, 11,467 vehicles produced from July 2012 to April 2025 are being recalled, and there have been 32 reports of failures, including brake malfunctions. The company also carried out a recall in January over a defect in the parking brake cable, with some of the vehicles overlapping.
