The U.S. Senate passed a nonbinding resolution by unanimous consent saying FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried should not receive a presidential pardon or sentence reduction under any circumstances. According to Odaily, the measure was pushed by Senators Cynthia Lummis and Ruben Gallego.
Bankman-Fried was convicted in November 2023 on seven counts tied to FTX’s collapse and is expected to be released around 2044. U.S. President Donald Trump said in January that he had no plan to pardon Bankman-Fried.
