South Korea will launch a sovereign artificial intelligence model focused on cybersecurity by the end of this year, Science Minister Paek Kyung-hoon said on Thursday. According to Jin10, the move aims to address growing security threats in the digital domain. It follows the United States' sudden imposition of export controls on advanced AI models, including Anthropic's "Mythos 5," which is known for its vulnerability detection capabilities, raising concerns about digital security. Speaking at a policy briefing chaired by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the Blue House, Paek stated: "We are working to create an AI model focused on cybersecurity within the year by training our existing sovereign AI model with security-related data."
