South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) Chairman Lee Eok-won said on July 16 that supplementary measures for single-stock leveraged products will be announced soon. According to Jin10, when asked whether such products affected recent market volatility, Lee stated that "the key lies in the extent of their impact" and pledged to formulate and release the measures as quickly as possible. Regarding a possible temporary trading suspension system during sharp market declines, Lee noted that markets follow their own operating rules and that such interventions could bring greater side effects, so the FSC is comprehensively evaluating the situation. Lee pointed out that high volatility in the global semiconductor industry is an important backdrop to recent market swings. The semiconductor sector has grown rapidly amid a "super cycle," with stock prices surging sharply in the short term, while market expectations and concerns alternate repeatedly, exacerbating fluctuations in Korean and global semiconductor stocks. He emphasized that as the combined market capitalization of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix has grown significantly, their weight in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index has continued to rise, further amplifying the impact of semiconductor stock price movements on the overall market.
