New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani attended a World Cup watch party at Rikers Island correctional facility, where more than 100 inmates gathered to watch the semifinal match between England and Argentina, according to Yahoo Sports. The jail has hosted such events since the tournament began, offering them as an incentive for inmates with good behavior, including being incident-free for at least 30 days. About 4,500 of the roughly 6,600 inmates have participated in 90 watch parties total.
