The US Mint will begin producing a $1 gold coin featuring President Donald Trump to commemorate 250 years of American independence, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Wednesday. According to BeInCrypto, the coin pairs Trump’s portrait with the Great Seal on the reverse, bypassing an 1866 law barring living people on currency through the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020. The Mint has not yet set a release date, price, or mintage. The issuance is limited to 2026, with designs reverting in 2027.
