CoinShares: Open USD Poses Most Credible Threat to Circle's USDC

CoinShares has identified Open USD as the most credible threat to Circle's USDC stablecoin, citing backing from more than 140 companies. According to NS3.AI, Open USD is expected to debut in the second half of 2026 and plans to distribute reserve income to participating businesses. CoinShares noted that USDC's established liquidity and integrations could be difficult for any newcomer to replicate.
