According to CNBC, Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who safely landed a US Airways jet on the Hudson River in 2009, disclosed on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Sullenberger, 75, announced the diagnosis in a statement on his website and said he is receiving treatment, noting that he is at the beginning of the journey. The veteran pilot has been a prominent advocate for aviation safety since the "Miracle on the Hudson" incident, in which he saved all 155 people on board. He later served as the U.S. ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization in 2022 and has testified before Congress on pilot training and aircraft certification issues.
