Didier Deschamps will conclude his 14-year tenure as France manager in Saturday's World Cup third-place play-off, following a 2-0 semi-final defeat to Spain, according to Yahoo Sports. Deschamps, who won the World Cup as both a player (1998) and manager (2018), set a record for most World Cup games managed (26) in the loss. He confirmed in January 2025 he would step down after the tournament. France managed only 10 shots in the match, their lowest total in a World Cup, with an expected goals of 0.3. Deschamps' farewell game will be against the loser of England vs. Argentina in Miami on Saturday at 22:00 BST.
