According to Lianhe Zaobao citing AFP, Spanish officials said Tuesday, July 14, that 13 people died in a wildfire in Spain’s southern Andalusia region, including 12 foreign nationals, after autopsies were completed. The victims included seven Britons, three Belgians, one French national and one American, with the remaining victim a Spanish citizen; officials said eight were women and five were men, all adults. The fire broke out Thursday, July 9, in Almeria province in southeastern Spain and spread rapidly amid strong winds and extreme heat, burning about 7,000 hectares; authorities said the blaze was sparked when a cable fell onto a road. The fire has been brought under control and residents have been returning home since Sunday.
