CoinFund managing partner David Pakman said the crypto industry has not yet solved what he described as tokenomics’ biggest challenge: creating native tokens whose value is closely tied to the long-term success of the underlying network. According to Odaily, Pakman said many crypto tokens are still traded mainly on network narratives rather than economic performance.

He said this dynamic leaves contributors uncertain about the trade-off between short-term compensation and long-term exposure to a project’s native token. Pakman suggested that projects pay contributors in stablecoins to attract talent that is unwilling to bet on the long-term value of native tokens.

Pakman cited his own experience mining Ethereum, saying he benefited from holding ETH, but added that most projects have not generated similar long-term returns.
