Three U.S. Senate Democrats—Chris Murphy, Chris Van Hollen and Jeff Merkley—stepped up opposition to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, calling it “corrupt” and urging colleagues to vote against it. At a Capitol Hill press conference, they cited President Donald Trump’s personal crypto profits and pressed for an ethics provision barring senior officials, including the president, from engaging in the crypto industry, according to CoinDesk. Van Hollen said the bill “will do a lot of harm,” while backers seek enough Democratic votes to clear the Senate’s 60-vote hurdle before Congress’ summer break.
