North Carolina has signed the Virtual Currency Kiosk Consumer Protection Act into law, setting new consumer safeguards for virtual currency kiosks, including a $2,000 daily transaction limit for new customers.

According to NS3.AI, the law also caps kiosk fees at 12% and grants scam victims the right to a refund if they report an incident within 30 days.

Under the measure, kiosk operators must be licensed as money transmitters and will be overseen by the state Commissioner of Banks.
