A Wikipedia blackout could impair how AI engines such as ChatGPT understand cryptocurrency, as many major crypto projects lack entries on the site. According to CoinDesk, a report by crypto communications firm Chainstory found only 67 of the 1,000 largest crypto projects by market cap (per CoinGecko) have Wikipedia pages, with Hyperliquid and Sui among notable omissions. The report said Wikipedia links account for 7.8% of ChatGPT source links, and cited Trakkr data showing Wikipedia made up 36% of top-10 citation links and 25% of the top 100. Wikipedia did not respond to a request for comment.
